Circular Letter No. 1

The Secretariat of the Consortium of Country and Area Studies wishes to express its gratitude to all the CCAS members who have sent your reply forms and abstracts for your presentations. We are overwhelmed by your enthusiasm to engage in discussion on the topic of Country Area Studies and International Cooperation and to share your reflections and your experiences.

The Secretariat would like to take this opportunity to inform our CCAS members that the following guest speakers will speak at the conference:

v Mr JIN Liqun, President, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

v Professor Deborah Terry AO, President, University of Queensland

v Professor TANG Shiqi, Dean, School of Area Studies, Peking University

v Professor Richard W. Miller, Hutchinson Professor in Ethics and Public Life Emeritus, Cornell University

A draft program of the conference will be sent soon with the next circular letter. All speakers will be contacted by the Secretariat for confirmation of the speaking time.

The Secretariat has booked a Zoom conference room from 1:00 – 10:30 pm Beijing time, for April 28, with simultaneous interpretation in English, French and Chinese. Speakers who would like to present their papers in other languages are invited to contact the Secretariat to find about availability of interpretation service in other languages.

To ensure smooth connection to the conference room, the Secretariat will organize a trial session on the afternoon of April 27 Beijing time. Participants of the conference are encouraged to get connected via the zoom link. If any problems occur during the trial session, please contact the Secretariat at ccas@bfsu.edu.cn.

Reminder: The conference will be held on 2:00 – 10:00 pm, April 28, 2023 online and in Beijing.
